FAQ

Workers' Compensation FAQs

Important facts you need to know about workplace accidents and claims.

What benefits am I entitled to under Georgia workers' compensation?

You are generally entitled to three core benefits: 1) Medical coverage for all necessary and reasonable treatments by authorized doctors; 2) Weekly income benefits (usually two-thirds of your average weekly wage up to the state limit) while you cannot work; and 3) Permanent partial disability benefits if you have a permanent impairment.

Can I choose my own doctor after a work injury?

Your employer must provide an official "Panel of Physicians" listing at least six approved doctors. You must select a doctor from this panel for your treatment. However, you are allowed one free change to another doctor on the same panel. If your employer does not maintain a proper panel, you may be able to choose your own doctor. Contact us to evaluate your options.

What should I do if my employer denies my workers' comp claim?

If your claim is denied, you have the right to request a formal hearing before an Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) at the State Board of Workers' Compensation. Our legal team will file the necessary paperwork, compile medical evidence, and represent you at the hearing to fight for a reversal of the denial.

How long do I have to report a work accident in Georgia?

You must report your work-related injury to your employer within 30 days of the accident. Failing to notify them within this timeframe can result in a complete loss of your benefits. We recommend reporting the injury in writing immediately.
